The making of a window for St John’s Church Healey, Northumberland involved the application of thousands of minute marks punched into the surface of the glass with a metal point, trapping, holding and breaking the light passing through the glass. An image evolved intuitively from this process over months of application, and with the movement of the light, it hovers between being and non-being.

Commissioned by the family at Healey Hall in 2010 as one of two commemorative windows for the site. An accompanying publication The Windows of St John’s Church, including an essay by Richard Grayson, was produced by Coracle Press and The Hotspur. The commission won the Art & Christianity Enquiry Award for Art in 2011.
